Sun Cultists

Zealots of the dawn seeking to burn the night.

The Sun Cultists are a zealous faction within the lands of Vardoran dedicated to the eradication of vampires. Unlike the player-led clans, these individuals operate as hostile NPCs who harness the power of daylight and sacred fire to cleanse the world of the undead curse. They serve as persistent antagonists throughout the region, guarding shrines and ambushing travelers with weapons designed to burn flesh exposed to light. Their presence marks areas where the sun's influence is strongest or artificially amplified through ritualistic means. While they do not offer membership to players, their activities drive much of the early-game conflict, forcing vampires into shadowy corners and necessitating strategic planning for those who wish to reclaim territory from their grasp.

Lore & Background

Born from a deep-seated fear of the undead, these cultists believe that vampires are an abomination against nature. They view the return of sunlight not just as a natural cycle, but as a holy crusade to purge Vardoran of its curse. Their rituals often involve mirrors and lenses designed to focus solar energy into beams capable of incinerating even the most powerful vampire. Throughout history, their strongholds have been established in open fields or high peaks where shadows are scarce. They coordinate with other anti-vampire forces but remain distinct in their fanatical devotion to light-based weaponry. To them, every sunrise is a weapon, and every vampire is a target waiting to be consumed by the flame.

In Their Own Story

The dawn broke over the Forsaken Abbey, painting the stone walls in hues of blood orange. A lone cultist stood atop the parapet, adjusting the great bronze mirror angled toward the rising star. Below, the shadows retreated like water before a tide. He raised his staff, chanting words that crackled with heat. A vampire lurked in the crypts beneath, sensing the warmth seeping through the floorboards. The air grew heavy, smelling of ozone and burning hair. There was no mercy for the night here; only the inevitable fire.

Reader's Guide

In V Rising, survival relies heavily on forming alliances known as Clans to withstand threats like the Sun Cultists. While you cannot join these zealots, your alliance determines how effectively you combat them. To create a Clan, invite other players through the menu system; this allows shared inventories and castle ownership. Benefits include coordinated raiding on cultist strongholds to secure solar materials needed for progression. Alliances can also declare war on rival player groups who protect these enemies or compete for resources in dangerous zones. Managing territory is key; a well-built alliance can hold outposts in biomes where cultists thrive, securing paths to vital resources like silver and blood essence. Communication tools are essential for timing attacks during safe hours when sunlight is less of a threat. By working together, clans reduce the risk of being overwhelmed by groups of fanatics wielding light-based weaponry. Trust is currency; betrayal can leave a castle vulnerable to both players and zealots alike.
